NOTD: China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint

Hello dolls!

Today's NOTD is the color Re-Fresh Mint by China Glaze.  This is another polish that I just bought yesterday and for a couple reasons.  One, I wanted a cute green color for St. Patty's Day but something that wasn't too dark and two, this has been on the top must have polishes for Spring on every nail polish lover I have found on YouTube.
I did 2 coats of this and 2 coats of the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength top coat but I will NOT recommend this top coat since I have noticed it takes about an hour to air dry and I keep smudging my nails because of it.  I will definitely be picking up a fast dry top coat pretty soon!

Under basic lighting:

With flash:

What have you guys done on your nails for St. Patty's Day?

*Nail tip of the day:  Instead of waiting for your nails to air dry, take your hairdryer and put the settings on low and be SURE to only use cool heat, then wave it in a back and forth motion over your nails to help the drying process.  If you use warm-hot heat, it will literally melt your polish into a different direction!

Essie and China Glaze Nail Polish Haul

Hello lovelies!

As this weekend is coming to an end I figured it's been a few days since I did a post and I was starting to miss you guys!  The past couple of days I have picked up some new nail polishes to add to my ever growing collection.  Most of them are from the new Spring 2011 line from Essie, A French Affair, and a few are just springy colors that I wanted to have!

The first one is topping my favorites and it's definitely a must have color for Spring.  It's already been the most raved about Nude color for this year.  Topless and Barefoot.
It's not your typical nude color as when it's painted on, it's a pretty pinky nude color!

The next one is a sheer color from the line but it will look gorgeous over all the other colors in the line, ESPECIALLY Topless and Barefoot.  Kisses and Bisses.

I have also been really big into blue colors lately and was excited to see a medium to dark blue in this years Spring line.  It has a bit of shimmer to it which is perfect for this season! Coat Azure.

Since I am usually into my normal polish colors of pinks and purples, a baby pink color was also a must have for this season for me.  I am absolutely loving this color and can't wait to use it!  I get why the collection has this as their opening color with the same name! French Affair.

The next few polishes are from different collections but were so Spring I bought them anyways.

This one is from Spring 2010 line of Essie for J.Crew.  I currently am wearing this color so I was able to take a few pictures of what it looks like on.  Peach Daquiri.
Under lighting, you can definitely see the peachy coral color!

And this is with flash on.  You see more of the coral side come out.

The next one is from another Essie collection that I am unsure of.  I believe the regular Spring 2010 line but it was another must have spring color for me as it's a lighter tone in a color I normally don't have but love.  Van D' Go.
It looks like a baby pink, but the swatch is more of a light tangerine with a pink tint to it. Gorgeous!

And the last color I recently just bought is a China Glaze color, I am unsure of what line it is from though.  I have seen this color everywhere on Nail Blogs lately and it fits in with all of the other light blue and green tones for this upcoming season.  It reminds me of Tiffanys, LOVE!  For Audrey.
What are some of your must have polishes for this upcoming Spring/Summer?

*Beauty tip of the day: Looking to have a Microdermabrasion done to clean out your pores and reveal healthier looking skin, but simply can't afford the costs?  Famous known plastic surgeoun, Dr. Drew Orden recommends the Olay Pro-X Device, sold for about $30 in most stores, for very similar results as if you had gone to get it professionally done!

Til next time Divas!

Happy Monday!

Is it just me or did this past weekend fly by?  I hate when weekends come to an end.  But today was sunny and we're finally getting into some warmer temperatures so I was in a good mood today!  :)  My best friend posted on her blog (Check her out: http://beautyloversrambles.blogspot.com) a Monday questionnaire that was originally posted on Amarixe's blog, and I thought I'd do one too!

Here goes:
1.) Mood: Relaxed/happy/calm
2.) What is the closest blue object to you? Sons trainer sippy cup
3.) What is your favorite card game? phase ten or uno
4.) Current nail polish: china glaze hyper haute
5.) Do you consider yourself to be a good dancer? Umm sometimes...I can rock it out on Dance Central lol!
6.) What is the best haircut you have ever had? Above shoulder angled bob with choppy layers and side swept bangs.
7.) Current outfit: Polka dot pjs and tshirt
8.) Do you have a fear of flying on airplanes? Somewhat, heights don't bother me, but I don't know how I will do on a plane (I have never been)
9.) What is the last movie you watched? It's been quite a while that I can't remember!  Wow that's bad lol
10.) Weekly goals: Finish unpacking and organizing the house, see the bestie, start my shopping wishlist, and apply for some jobs.

Extra question: What is your favorite type of post to see on this blog? Reviews or monthly favorites
Or what kind of post would you like to see that you haven't already? Maybe more hair related posts, don't see too many posts about that.

*Beauty tip of the day: Looking for a cure for facial blemishes? Rub tomato slices on your skin for 15 minutes to increase circulation and clear your skin! The lypopane in tomatoes acts as an astringent to get rid of the bacteria that causes pimples.

Until next time, Divas!

February Favorites!!

Hello Divas!

I know it's a bit into March already to be doing February favorites, but since I just started my blog, I thought why not, I have a good enough excuse, haha!  Especially since today has been a sort of crappy day for me due to lack of sleep and the gloomy & snowy weather, I definitely wanted to do a blog post that would cheer me up and hopefully cheer you guys up or at least like/love.

So here we go, these items are in no particular order, etc.

Victorias Secret Ravishing Love Set

Ravishing Love is one of their newest scents just recently released.  I will tell you this, if you haven't checked them out lately, I definitely suggest going!  I have always been a huge fan of their scent LoveSpell and found that I never needed any of their other scents because that was my holy grail scent of all time.  But since I had a gift card from my hubby from Christmas, I went in there and they so happened to be having their 3 for $24 or 6 for $30 deal going on.  I was only going to buy 3, LoveSpell of course, since I needed to stock up on it but I figured getting 6 was cheaper.  I went and checked out the new scents since they had a few and when I tested Ravishing Love, I FELL in LOVE and now I have a hard time debating if I like it more than LoveSpell!  I got the moisturizing hand and body cream, body wash, and body spray in both scents.  Everytime I go to grab for one of them, I seem to aim for this one over my dear LoveSpell.  So I definitely recommend going in there and trying them out!

Curel Healing Lotion

With the Winter season comes dry, cracked skin, or at least for me it does.  Especially with having kids and the constant diaper changing, I wash my hands at least 20 times a day and during the Winter makes it worse on my hands.  I always get it badly cracked around my knuckles and more so near my thumb, index and middle fingers.  I've tried quite a few lotions and none have seemed to really work.  I recently purchased this Curel lotion back in December since it was on sale and figured I'd try it.  It worked!  I try and put it on after each hand wash and at night when I'm heading to bed.  I even got my hubby into using it since he works in the cleaning industry, he constantly is washing his hands too so his end up worse than mine! So bad they have bled, and this lotion has helped cure it.  It's no wonder their name is CUREl haha.

Jane 'Not so innocent pink' Lipstick
I bought this lipstick back near the end of last summer and I never really got around to using it.  Reason is I haven't ever really been into lip products except lip balm or chapstick.  But February seemed to have been the month where I felt I wanted my lips to be simply dashing and I reached for this the one day and since have kept wearing it.  It's a pretty subtle pink that I think would work on any skintone.  These lipsticks don't have anything in their name such as lipstain or 24-hour wear, but when I wear this and I later get to that feeling that my lips are bare, I check and still have a good tint of color left.  It definitely lasts a while and for the price, you can't beat that!
Here's a swatch.

Bath and Body Works Hand Sanitizer - Apple

I bought a bunch of hand sanitizers last summer from BBW and I didn't really use them much until this Winter.  Especially this past month since I had been going on 7 weeks straight of being sick!  This was definitely my favorite scent out of them all and I can't wait to go back to stock up on more and a few other scents.  They are super cheap and great smelling, I wouldn't get hand sanitizers from anywhere else!

Scrunched Hair

I know!!!! It's not really a product BUT since this is how I've been wearing my hair non-stop this year so far, I HAD to put it up.  It's fast, easy, and looks AMAZING on any woman!  I absolutely love wearing my hair like this, especially now that my hair is longer since I'm due for a haircut but decided to grow it out a little bit and this hair style looks great with longer hair.  It really helps me feel that spring is right around the corner and I can be "beachy" without the warmer weather.  There are tons of great tutorials on how to do this style on YouTube.  The right hair products are going to be key in getting this look!

Well, that is my list of favorites for February.  Not too long of a list but I found myself with these the most this past month.  What have been some of your favorites lately?

*Beauty tipS of the day:
  • At home threading kits work great for facial hair removal.  Just apply to the hair in the spots you'd want to remove hair, and click the button.  It works the same way as going to get your eyebrows threaded!
  • Have ragged or dry cuticles?  Get a paraffin wax kit and dip your hands in for about 10 seconds and remove.  You will have the softest and best looking cuticles in just seconds, not to mention your hands will feel great!  Want a cheaper alternative?  If you have some soy candles around, burn them out, wait a few seconds and dip your finger nails down past your cuticles into the melted wax and it works just about the same!
  • Suffer from frizzy hair? Try this deep conditioning at home treatment.  Olive oil mayo, an egg, and beer and mix together into a paste.  Apply to your dry hair and wrap with plastic wrap.  Then take your hair dryer and heat around your entire head to give the heat penetration to the paste for about a minute.  Leave paste on for 20 minutes and then wash out.  Gorgeous, non-frizzy, voluminous hair you will achieve!

Three Makeup Moods

Hello again Divas!

This day has seemed to fly by, I don't know where the time went!  I've been super busy.  An appointment this morning, to running a couple errands, trying to unpack some more of the house, to a few job offers, and more job searching.  I have also been on the lookout for better tools for my blog and soon to be youtube channel.

Anyways, I just wanted to check in with all of you and possibly get some ideas going here.  Since I am of course here for you guys otherwise I wouldn't have a purpose to do this!  :)  Give me some ideas on blog posts that you guys would like to read about, being anything, reviews you might wanna read about, and some possible slideshow with voice videos that would be of interest.

*Beauty tip of the day: Erin Hobday, health director at Redbook magazine states there are three makeup moods that everyone can relate to.

  • Sexy mood: use shimmer! On your shoulders, cleavage, etc. Use browns and pewters for cream eye shadows.
  • Relaxed mood: Brown mascara, soft pink on cheeks and lips! Natural look is key.
  • Confident mood: Bold lips and bold brows!

I'm joining the fun!

Hello Divas!

So I decided it was time I joined in on the fun and created my own blog!  Along with it I have a twitter account, facebook page, and soon a youtube channel.  I just wanted to do a quick post and get myself introduced out there to you all in hopes you decide to follow me!  Also feel free to share my links with friends or anyone you know.

*Beauty tip of the day: If you find yourself having breakouts despite your skincare routine, check the face products that you use.  Anything cream based has an oil base, even if it says oil free!, and will clog your pores causing breakouts.  Stick to lotion based face products since they have a water base and will keep your pores clear!
